Formerly part of "American Geo". This is somewhere between Config Geo and Elem Geo. A lot of these problems involve figuring out what certain points are, adding in new points that were not that already, and altogether slowly piecing together a master diagram that reveals the depth of a certain picture.

Philosophy

American Geo splits up into two parts: Classical and Config Geo. While Config Geo relies more on recognizing common configs that appear in many problems, Classical is more about constructing the config yourself, by adding lines or circles to the diagram and slowly getting more information about the config. Thus, Classical may be more challenging than its Config counterpart.

Most problems will require you to construct something of your own.

This unit is on the harder end of D-leveled geo units, and if you struggle with adding constructions to a geometry problem (and if you think how the heck did they know to add that line? when reading solutions), this unit will be more challenging but very helpful for you.

Notable Problems

  • TSTST 2021/1: An easier problem that demonstrates the idea of adding new points into a config.

  • Sharygin 2009 Finals: A 9-pointer problem that represents what Classical is like, where you will need to construct points that slowly give you more information.
